Turns out naming a player is hard. I really didn't expect it to be this hard.
The obvious option is to let people type whatever name they want. Wonderful — right up until you remember this is a kids' game. I don't want your kid flying around in a flock of usernames I won't repeat here. You can picture the rest. Not on my watch.
Okay, next idea: let an AI read every name and flag the bad ones. Sounds smart —
and it opens a whole new can of worms. What's offensive to one person is a
perfectly normal Tuesday to another. And AI loves to hallucinate: it'll wave
80085 straight through, along with a hundred other sneaky classics, without
blinking.
So what's the plan?
A name picker. Why not? It's really just a handful of things I'd like to know about you — pick a describing word, pick your bird, and drop an emoji or two into the blanks. That alone gives me over 150 million unique names. Want more? I just add more words.
But here's the catch: can I promise not a single one of those 150 million combinations is inappropriate? Nope. Not a chance. I built it, and even I can't be sure.
And that's exactly where you come in.
🎉 The giveaway
Here's the deal. Open the Name Pecker, play with it, and build yourself a name. Then post your creation in the comments. I want to know: can any of you assemble something that's actually inappropriate?
Let's make it a contest. The most inappropriate name — if anyone can even manage one — wins a Sky Peck developer license, on the spot. The full paid game, yours to keep, and you can start flying today.
(Keep it clever rather than just crude — I'll be reading every single entry, and I'd like the thread to stay funny.)
Oh, and one last thing. It's not a Name Picker.
It's a Name Pecker, of course. 🦜
