Well, guess what — that means I can't just forget about the game anymore. It's not a pet project; it soars in the sky!
So, where do we stand?
We have a solid, workable build for Mac and Windows, and I'm about to start sending out trial invites.
We also have an iOS build for iPhones and iPads with Apple, and they're working on releasing it. That's going to take some time. Truth be told, the iPhone is a lousy platform for a game like this. The only way I could play Sky Peck comfortably on an iPhone was to mirror my screen to a TV. But it worked. Plus, you can plug your iPhone into a charger and play longer.
Now, the tasty part — VR is here! The Meta Quest 3S (and 3) can run Sky Peck. This one requires much more effort on my side. The controls are complicated, and I need to handle some quirks. Specifically, excessive turning makes me feel quite disoriented in the game. But soon I'll show you actual gameplay from the Quest.
The Mac and PC versions both have an easy "Record" button that captures the reels you, the flock, keep seeing. So on most platforms there's a built-in way to see yourself and the bird. The Quest, obviously, doesn't have this functionality.
Also, I've found a partner who is working on a new set of models for the bird and the scenery. Don't worry — the graphics will get quite an overhaul.
But the most important part of it all is THE story.
And gosh, do we have a tale of a Free Flying Bird for you. We can write and create interesting, complicated stories — you'll get a glimpse of that later.
